Public Skating (January 1st, 2010)
In celebration of the holiday season the Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach has established a tradition of sponsoring free public skating time on the two ice surfaces of the Tecumseh Arena during New Year's Eve. This year's event occurs on New Year's day.

Each year our Club extends invitations regarding the Optimist Oratorical Contest to each of the 11 elementary schools in the Town of Tecumseh. The efforts of this year's Oratorical Committee resulted in what may have been one of the finest contests we've run in recent memory. The Committee's efforts resulted in a well-attended event with kids delivering speeches in both official languages.
Victoria Day Weekend (May 23rd, 2010)
Our Annual Garage Sale, held on the Sunday of this weekend is an important fundraiser for the Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach and the costs of many of our community projects; including the weekend's fireworks display, are offset by its revenues.
Tecumseh residents, responding to our request for donations of resale items, either arrange for pick up by Club members or drop items off directly at the Optimist Community Centre in Tecumseh's Green Acres Optimist Park on the Saturday of this holiday weekend.
On Sunday, hundreds of potential bargain hunters pour through the gates to see what can be found. At closing time, this year, any unsold items were turned over to benefit other organizations such as the Essex Food Bank, Habitat for Humanity, and local refugee families in need.
Each year this event has expanded to include even more family oriented activities throughout the weekend.
Annual Optimist Charity Golf Classic (See you in 2010)
Our Annual Optimist Charity Golf Classic is held in June each year. This is another fundraiser developed to help support the many programs we provide to the community each year. Our Charity Golf Committee has grown this event to become more significant each year and we thank all those golfers, hole sponsors, and prize donors who helped make this event such a success.
Annual Kids' Fishing Derby (June 19th 2010)
This popular event is held on the shore of Lake St. Clair off the Beach Grove Golf & Country Club property in Tecumseh. Each year, kids turn out in large numbers to test their skill, eat their fill and take a refreshing run through the "sprinkler" provided by the our Optimist Club's antique fire truck.
Optimist Junior Golf Qualifier (Wednesday June 30th, 2010)
Our Annual Optimist Junior Qualifier Golf Tournament was held at Lakewood Golf Course in Tecumseh. This tournament affords local, Jr. Golfers the opportunity to qualify to advance to the Southwestern Ontario District Junior Golf Championships held in Blenheim. The Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach subsidizes registration fees for this next level of competition.
Tecumseh Corn Festival (August 2010)
2008 marks the 33nd anniversary of this celebration. Each day provides a list of free entertainment made possible by various community sponsors. Corn donated by Bonduelle is cooked and served up by The Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach. Proceeds from these sales go to further help finance our numerous community and youth projects.

The Terry Fox Run (September 2010)
This Canada wide event, inspired by one young man of hope, raises funds for cancer research. The Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach supports the local, volunteer Terry Fox Committee by marshaling the course route, which starts off and finishes up at the Optimist Community Centre in Tecumseh's Green Acres Optimist Park, providing and preparing food for the participants, as well as making a financial contribution toward the cause.

The Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach holds its "Pet" Pumpkin Contest in October at the Optimist Community Centre. Many of the children arrive in Halloween costumes to set the mood for a great event.
Each First Place Winner receives a family pack of theatre tickets to Lakeshore Cinemas and gift Certificate for pizza from Armando's Pizza. Six other youngsters received second place prizes.
There were lots of goodies and refreshments served while Trixie The Clown was kept busy painting the faces of many children and a couple adults too! All the children received a bag of treats provided by the Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach.
The Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach extends thanks to Armando's Pizza, Lakeshore Cinemas, and the families who participated and helped make our first "Pet" Pumpkin Contest such a success.

Christmas in Tecumseh (November 2010)
In organizing this event, Tecumseh Town Council calls upon a few specific groups to help out. Naturally, the Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach was approached and has become a key contributor to the celebration's success.
This evening of choirs, clowns, stories and Santa is held at the Optimist Community Centre and Park. Hundreds of families gather to celebrate the official tree lighting and partake of complimentary food and drink while kids listen intently to stories, enjoy face painting and of course, visit with the Clauses.
In addition to those who attend and enjoyed the event, other area residents benefit from the large quantity of canned goods donated to the Essex Food Bank over the course of the evening.
Kudos to all those Club members and Opti-Mrs who helped spread a little Christmas cheer.

Golf Lessons (May 2010)

For the past several years, the Optimist Club of St. Clair Beach has worked in partnership with Tecumseh Golf Center to provide a summer junior program, which introduces hundreds of kids to the game each season at affordable rates.
